Victorian Block & Cord by Castle Magic
Although not Victorian as this trick was invented in 1941 by Lyman Allen, this effect does have a Victorian feel.
Effect: A block of wood, fastened to a piece of cord, is removed from a bag. A spectator is
asked to remove the block from the cord. Cord and block are examined. The cord is tied around the block leaving the block secured to the cord. The performer holds on end of the cord in his hand and places his foot on the other end, on the floor, and effortlessly removes the block from the cord.
Or the block could be removed by the performer whilst two spectators hold
the ends of the cord.
